On August 1, 2024, fate intervened when Dr. Lindsay Scholz and Mr. Sean Swaszek connected through the popular dating app Hinge. It was a moment that would forever alter the course of their lives. Sean, intrigued by Lindsay’s captivating smile, eagerly swiped right, while Lindsay, enchanted by Sean’s charming profile, did the same.

From that day forward, they would celebrate 8/1/24 as their anniversary, a symbol of the serendipity that brought them together. Their first date was a magical affair, filled with laughter and connection. Little did they know, it would be their last foray into the world of online dating. By the end of the evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, Sean’s nerves were palpable. Sensing the moment, Lindsay took the initiative and leaned in for their first kiss—a sweet, tender moment that sealed their fate. By the time they reached date three, Sean had affectionately saved Lindsay in his phone as “Unicorn,” a nod to the rarity of finding such a remarkable connection.

Together, they began weaving their lives into a beautiful tapestry of love and companionship. Lindsay, at 38, had once believed her dedication to her career and academic pursuits might have cost her the chance at true love. She had longed for someone to share her dreams and create a family with. Sean, at 40, had weathered his share of disappointments in love and had jokingly convinced himself that “all women were crazy.” Yet, in a world filled with uncertainty, they had both held on to hope.
